Our Best Year Ever!

By 22nd December 2019Studio Chit Chat

This time last year when my husband started talking about leaving his job to come and work with me at PhotoBaby, I’ve got to admit I was terrified. We have a mortgage, car payments and growing children that are now eating us out of house and home. Could this little photography business that I’d built from scratch really be the sole provider for our family? There was only one way to find out. We decided to take a leap of faith and go for it.

Taking a Chance

Funnily enough we met through work. Many moons ago we both ended up on an epic adventure teaching English in China. Daniel, Australian and was using the job as a stepping stone to get home after travelling. I was there because the opportunity had sounded exciting, and it was. The experience forged us together though and after going our separate ways at the end of the contract, Daniel took a chance back then and crossed the world to find me.

Our Busiest Year Yet

We’ve been married twelve years now, and as a business we’ve just had our best year yet. Twelve months since that scary stepping stone, we haven’t had a moment to look back. Between all the bookings to visit Baby Sensory as well as all our regular baby shoots we’ve had barely a moment to breath. On the run up to Christmas our work, life balance has got a little off kilter. I’ve got far too used to getting up at 5am to squeeze in all the post production and Dan has been left with every school run and food shop. But we’ll work this out in the new year – it’s all part of the learning curve of doing something new.

Charity Calendar

Thankfully, Hannah, my sister has also stepped up and begun training as our second shooter. This year she has been focussing on six month olds, and I am so proud of the Charity calendar we have made together in memory of our Mum and in support Ovarian Cancer Action. We’ve hit our target to raise £1000 and we still have a few calendars left to sell.

The Year’s Highlights

Other great highlights have been all the wonderful outdoor shoots we’ve held in the bluebells and on the beach. Introducing bubble baths at the end of our cake smashes has been a real hoot!

Studying for my photography masters has pushed my photography to new exciting levels, and on  the run up to Christmas we’ve done our most magical Christmas shots ever.

And some how in amongst everything Daniel and I managed to find a week for a little bit more adventure and sneak off to Paris too.

Team Work

Together, we are a team invested in making PhotoBaby the best it can be for you. Daniel and Hannah have got fantastic ideas and I am so excited about next year and all its possibilities and getting to continue working with my best friends. First though we have  some family time and Festivities to be had and a lot of mince pies to eat! We have really earned this break.

Thank You!

Thank you so much for all your support, Happy Christmas and a Wonderful New Year!
