Things No One Tells You About Becoming a Parent

By 8th April 2026Knowledge Centre

(From Our Studio Sofa)

Becoming a parent is magic.
It is messy.
It is beautiful and overwhelming all at once.

We see it every day from our studio sofa.
New parents walk in, baby in arms, eyes wide with love… and a little bit of “what have we done?”

Here are a few things no one really tells you. But we will.

You Will Google Everything

And we mean everything.

“Is this normal?”
“Why is my baby doing that?”
“Should poo look like this?”

At 2am. In the dark. With one eye open.

You’ll read five different answers.
All will say something different.

And still… you’ll check again tomorrow.

You Will Feel More Love Than You Thought Possible

It hits you out of nowhere.

The way they curl their fingers around yours.
The tiny sighs when they sleep.
That milky smile.

Your heart doesn’t just grow.
It explodes.

And suddenly, nothing else feels quite as important.

You Might Not Feel “You” For A While

No one really talks about this enough.

Your body has changed.
Your routine has vanished.
Your sleep? Gone.

You might look in the mirror and not recognise yourself.

That’s okay.

You are still in there.
Just evolving into something even more incredible.

Sleep Becomes A Distant Memory

You will miss sleep like an old friend.

The kind where you wake up naturally.
Feeling rested. Refreshed. Human.

Now it’s broken.
In pieces.
Scattered across the night.

But somehow… you function.

Parents are basically superheroes in disguise.

You Will Doubt Yourself

Even on your best days.

“Am I doing this right?”
“Should I be doing more?”
“Why does everyone else make it look easy?”

Here’s the truth.

No one finds it easy all the time.

You are learning a whole new world.
And you are doing better than you think.

The Little Moments Matter Most

Not the big milestones.

Not the picture-perfect days.

It’s the quiet bits.

The sleepy cuddles on the sofa.
The way they fit perfectly on your chest.
The tiny noises only you recognise.

These are the moments you’ll miss.

These are the ones worth holding onto.

Time Moves Fast… and Slow

The days can feel long.

Really long.

But the weeks?
They fly.

One minute they’re curled up and tiny.
The next they’re stretching, smiling, changing before your eyes.

It’s a blur.
A beautiful blur.

You Don’t Have To Have It All Figured Out

There is no perfect parent.

No perfect routine.
No perfect way.

There is just your way.

Your baby doesn’t need perfection.
They just need you.

From Our Sofa to You

When you come into the studio, we see it all.

The love.
The exhaustion.
The pride.
The “we’ve got no idea what we’re doing” smiles.

And we get it.

Because every parent who walks through our doors feels the same.

So if you’re in the thick of it right now…
Sitting on your own sofa, wondering if you’re doing okay…

You are.

You really are.

And one day, you’ll look back at these moments and realise…

They were the beginning of everything.
