Squeezing into September! Italia Fest, Baby Sensory, Rainbows

By 16th September 2018Birdie Blog, Studio Chit Chat

The summer holidays have drawn to a close and the kids are back at school. I’ve been really sorry to see them go, as that’s one more childhood summer done and dusted. We’re only going to have a few more.

All that said though, it’s been a relief to get back to normal life and we’ve really hit the ground running at the studio. Things have been none stop since the start of September. I think everybody else is in back to school mode as well!

It’s an exciting month too, with lots of new photographic territory to explore.

Photographing Italia Fest

We were thrilled to be invited to be part of Italia Fest and create all the photos for them. I loved photographing all the Ferraris gracing our Lancaster streets, and the variety of acts was awesome.

Bid did an amazing job organising the festival and I can’t wait to see how they build on it next year. I’d like the finale to be a masked ball!

Photographing at Baby Sensory

We teamed up with baby sensory earlier in the year and now we have started hosting their sensory mini shoots. We’re just had our first full week of sessions. It’s been so lovely to eavesdrop on all the gorgeous sensory classes. I so wish I had done this with my babies!

The sensory classes have a different theme every week and the classes go all out to give the babies an experience in this theme. Last week’s theme was seaside and sailing, and they created a beach for the babies, fabric waves and my favorite moment was when they turned out the lights and danced beautiful jellyfish around the class.

To keep with the theme, I designed an extra special little portrait for the babies and gave them the option of being in a boat!

Next time will be pumpkins so lets see what we come up with for that!

I’ve pulled a couple of strings too, and can offer you the chance to visit our local baby sensory and give it a try. Just present this voucher when you get in touch with the baby sensory team and you can visit a class for free.

Our First Ever Rainbow Week

Determined to never have a dull moment, we are closing the month with our first ever Rainbow week. We have Rainbow babies and bumps coming from all over to celebrate and remember.

We’re loads of wonderful things planned, Zoe has been busy collecting rainbow props and fabrics to introduce into the shoots. I’m organising a group of mothers pregnant with rainbow babies so we can make a group rainbow maternity portrait. It’s all very exciting. If you want to bring your little one along, or get involved just get in touch.

rainbow week ideasWe’re fund raising for Tommy’s too. I’ve set the goal at £1000 as we like to aim high! This starts next week so let’s see how we get on.

If you’ve been thinking you’d like a photo shoot, book within the next two weeks (even if you want your shoot later in the year), and we’ll just ask for a donation to the charity instead of the regular fee.

Tommy’s fund research into why still-birth, miscarriage and neonatal death happen so they are an awesome charity to support.

Oh yes, and I start my MA on Monday too, so things really are rather busy now!
