Maternity Photography Training with Jemma

By 23rd June 2021Studio Chit Chat

Your pregnancy is such a fleeting moment in your life. An experience like no other! When you are pregnant with your first child this is your transition between one life and another. It is so exciting. That’s why we love to capture this moment at PhotoBaby and why Jemma is super excited to have started her studio maternity training.

We did her very first session last week with Laura Bradshaw as her pregnant model, and everything she created was gorgeous!  Jemma will be learning how to make the most of the studio lighting and bring out the best in you, so this month she’s looking for pregnant models who would like a solo portrait. Next month she will be ready for partners and siblings too.

Maternity Photography makes the most of our Beautiful Studio

We are so lucky with our beautiful studio space, it really is wonderful to work in. We’ll start off your training maternity photography using the bare space with it’s loft-like look. White outfits look wonderful with this set up so bring something suitable from home. Or pick something out from our every expanding collection of dresses.

White Studio Setting

We have a lot of white maternity dresses especially for this part of the shoot. Some boho, some vintage lace maternity dresses, some just simple and classic, so I’m sure we’ll have something to suit your taste. We also have white muslin curtains draped on one of the windows to add to the flow like, airy feel.

Our studio’s own features really lend themselves to the maternity photography session.

Silhouette Maternity Photography

Once Jemma has created all your portraits in this section of the shoot, we will move onto creating silhouettes for you. We’ll use our giant light box and really show off your amazing pregnant form. You can float some fabric around you, do some cute close ups of baby booties and your bump or maybe a flower from home. Just bring some of your own bits along and Jemma will get creative. The silhouette maternity portraits look amazing in black and white.

Silhouettes are a great way to show off your pregnant form.

Dark and Sensuous Maternity Photography

Then for the third and final part of this training maternity photography session, you will work with our black background. I like to think of this part of the session as painting with light. We use the light to draw attention to your bump and your beautiful curves. These are very sensuous images. Sometimes our pregnant models will choose to strip everything off for this part of the shoot. Then we use the shadows or a carefully placed arm or leg to hide everything that we don’t want seen.

On the black background we can really paint with light showing as much or as little of you as we choose.

Or when we have models that prefer not to undress, we wrap our pregnant models in fabric giving the pregnancy photography a more sensuous look than simple everyday clothes.

Timeless and intimate Maternity Photography

The portraits Jemma will make for you are designed to be timeless and intimate and to always make you look your best. If you would love a free maternity session.
