Making Things Happen: Why This Year Feels Different

By 10th June 2026Night Feed Ramblings

Something very exciting is happening here at PhotoBaby.

For months, we’ve had ideas scribbled on calendars, notes stuck to desks and plans waiting in the wings. We knew this was the year we wanted to bring Baby Fest back. We wanted to make more of our Prom and Play experiences. We also wanted to celebrate birthdays in a bigger way for all our little clients.

Three simple ideas.

Yet when we started working on all three at the same time, something rather magical happened.

Everything began to gather momentum.

When One Small Step Leads to Another

A week ago, I set up an Instagram page for Baby Fest.

If I’m honest, I had all the usual doubts running through my head.

Who’s going to trust a brand-new page? Will anyone follow it? Is anyone even going to notice?

Well, one week later, four of our fifteen exhibitor spaces have already been snapped up and more than 60 people are following along.

Not bad for seven days!

We’re so excited to bring Baby Fest back for local families and parents-to-be. It’s going to be packed with brilliant businesses, helpful advice and lots of inspiration for your parenting journey.

If there’s a local business you’d love to see at the show, we’d love to hear your suggestions.

Celebrating the Babies Who Started It All

At the same time, something unexpected has happened on our main PhotoBaby page.

The engagement has gone through the roof.

Sometimes social media can feel like hard work. You keep showing up, sharing content and wondering whether anyone is paying attention. Then suddenly, something clicks.

One thing our families have really loved is our birthday shout-outs.

We’ve been diving into the archives, finding those tiny newborn photographs and sharing them again on each child’s birthday. Seeing those little faces from years ago has been such a lovely reminder of how quickly children grow.

As parents, you’re living through the busiest days. It’s easy to forget just how tiny your baby once was.

That’s why photographs matter so much.

They become your time machine.

A New Adventure with The Little Cobbled Village

Another idea we’ve been working on is our Prom and Play experience.

We wanted to create something that would make little ones absolutely buzz with excitement.

Earlier this year, I met with the wonderful team at The Little Cobbled Village to chat about working together. From that conversation, the idea started to grow.

Over the last few weeks, it’s been a whirlwind of planning, building and pulling everything together.

Yesterday, we had our very first shoot.

And honestly?

It looked amazing.

Watching children step into their own little world of imagination is such a joy. The excitement on their faces says it all.

These special mini sessions are running throughout June and July. They’re just £20 and include a digital image, plus a visit to The Little Cobbled Village.

The Power of Doing

In our kitchen, we have a quote cut out from a magazine and stuck to one of the cupboard doors.

The message is simple.

Thinking isn’t doing the thing.

Talking isn’t doing the thing.

Planning isn’t doing thing.

Only doing is doing the thing.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen exactly how true that is.

Every exciting thing happening right now started with one small action. A phone call. A meeting. A social media post. A conversation.

The same is true for family life.

One day your baby takes their first step.

One day you book that photoshoot you’ve been meaning to organise.

One day you start making memories instead of just thinking about them.

And before you know it, those little moments become the stories you’ll treasure forever.

So, What Do You Want to Make Happen?

Whether it’s finally booking those family photographs, starting a new adventure with your little one or simply making more time to enjoy the stage you’re in right now, maybe this is your sign to get started.

Because sometimes the hardest part is taking the first step.

And once you do, amazing things can happen.
