What If My Baby Cries the Whole Photoshoot?

By 14th April 2026Knowledge Centre

It’s one of the biggest worries parents share with us.

“What if my baby just cries the whole time?”

Take a deep breath. You’re not alone in thinking this. And the honest answer is… it happens sometimes. Babies are beautifully unpredictable.

Some days they feel sleepy and settled. Other days, not so much.

And that’s completely normal.

Babies Have Off Days Too

Newborns are still adjusting to the world. It’s big, bright, and a little overwhelming.

They don’t follow routines just yet. They don’t always arrive calm and sleepy.

Some days they want to cluster feed.
Some days they just want to be cuddled.
Some days they need a little extra reassurance.

We expect that.

In fact, we plan for it.

Our Gentle Toolkit for Settling Baby

Over the past 18 years, we’ve seen it all. Truly. And because of that, we’ve developed lots of gentle ways to help soothe your baby.

It’s never just one magic trick. It’s a combination of little things working together.

We use soft white noise to recreate those familiar womb sounds.
We keep our posing tables warm and cosy, so baby feels safe and snug.
We use gentle vibration pads to mimic that soothing movement babies love.

We also bring in something really powerful… familiar scents.

Your baby knows your smell. It’s their favourite thing in the world. We often encourage using items that carry your scent, like a muslin or blanket, to help baby feel calm and secure during the session.

And then there are the simple, beautiful basics.

Cuddles. Plenty of them.
Feeds whenever baby needs. No rushing at all.
Time to pause, reset, and just be.

We also use gentle baby massage techniques to help relax tiny muscles and ease any tension.

Sometimes, that’s all it takes.

We Follow Your Baby’s Lead

There is no pressure in our studio.

No ticking clock.
No expectation for your baby to “perform.”

If your baby needs feeding, we stop.
If they need holding, we cuddle.
If they need a break, we take one.

Sometimes sessions take a little longer. Sometimes we pause completely.

And that’s okay.

Because your baby’s comfort always comes first.

What If Nothing Works on the Day?

Now and then, we have a session where baby just isn’t settling.

It’s rare. But it happens.

And when it does, we don’t force it.

Instead, we simply invite you back for another session when your baby is feeling more content.

No stress.
No guilt.
No pressure.

We always get there in the end.

We Always Create Your Memories

That’s the most important thing to remember.

Your photos will happen.
Your memories will be captured.
And they will be just as special as you imagined.

Often, even on unsettled days, we capture the most beautiful little moments. A yawn between cries. A stretch. A cuddle in your arms.

Those moments matter.

They tell your real story.

You’re in Safe Hands

With 18 years of experience, we’ve seen it all before.

Crying babies. Wide awake babies. Babies who just want Mum all session long.

And every single time, we’ve found a way through.

So if you’re worrying, please know this.

You don’t need a “perfect” baby.

You just need to show up.

We’ll take care of the rest.

With patience, care, and a calm, gentle approach, we’ll guide your session in a way that feels right for your baby.

Because at the end of the day, our goal is simple.

To create beautiful, meaningful images of your baby, just as they are.

And we promise… we’ll get there together
