Magical Christmas Robots – From Paris to Lancaster

By 2nd December 2017Studio Chit Chat

If you’ve wandered past our studio recently, you’ll have found a family of robots have taken up residence in the PhotoBaby window.  We have two adults and three children that have settled in to enjoy a magical Christmas. Their festivities are in full swing with Christmas crackers and party blowers. It looks like robot Santa has been early and left them a mound of presents too. One lucky robot even has a bike waiting! It is a magical sight and well worth bringing the children to see on the run up to Christmas.

Recycled Materials

Cleverly made from recycled materials, these robots are the creation of Bristol based prop designer and window dresser Maddy Humberstone. And this isn’t the robots first outing. They were last seen hard at work making Christmas presents in the Jasper Conran shop in Paris.

So from Paris to Lancaster, these famous robots make up the third magical Christmas display that Maddy has created for us at PhotoBaby.

Past Displays

She first made a Christmas scene that incorporated the city’s skyline.

Last year she created a fifties style living room scene.

Creating a Magical Christmas

I was recently asked why we go to so much effort with the Christmas window display. We do it because we want to create something magical for the children of Lancaster. I have some very special childhood memories of visiting Harrod’s to see their festive window display, and of a summer evening visit to Happy Mount Park to see the lights (we went round in our pyjamas). These are really special memories for me and they still make me feel a bit fuzzy when I think about them.

I’d like to think that our displays will become a special part other peoples childhood. One day in the future, memories of these robots will give someone else that same lovely feeling of magical Christmas’s when they were little.

So please bring your children to see our wonderful robots on the run up to Christmas. They look especially good at night with all the twinkling lights. You could have a family walk together up China Street and then pop into town for a yummy hot chocolate together or head up to the Priory to listen to some carol singing.

Enjoy and give us a wave when you are passing!
